Stress Reduces Writing

So I can only think of a few things that have been happening at school, and most of them just depress me further to think about...so let's put those things out of our minds and try to focus on a few positives.

Positive 1: Every time I wear high heels, my students tell me I look like a model. It is the quickest way I have to feel wonderful about myself.

Positive 2: My dad was the most fatherly he has probably ever been. He listened to stories about school that contained absolutely zero funny anecdotes and then offered some good advice.

Positive 3: I am becoming more successful in my quest for balance between my school and personal lives. This is a huge positive!

Positive 4: In that quest for balance, I wrote this to a new friend...I am/was pretty proud of it so I will share. It is my personal synopsis of the ABC Special "Christmas at the White House"

Christmas with Barry and Michelle: An Oprah Situation

First, we opened on the White House and Op meets Ob in the Oval Office. That's when we learn that the president enjoys apples. He made sure to note that he keeps M&Ms around for the kiddos...because kids notoriously hate apples when they are gifted.

Next Oprah tracks down Michelle in one of the hallways --maybe she was lost there, it was unclear. Michelle was dressed inappropriately for daytime by wearing a cocktail dress. Michelle showed Oprah around until they arrived in the room with the Gingerbread House. That thing was insane! They did a brief flashback to other gingerbread creations showing how they have gotten more elaborate over time. I didn't even know it was a thing, but apparently...it is.

Now it gets hard-hitting...Just Oprah and Barry chillin in the Green Room. They talk about all sorts of things like receiving a Peace Prize while sending out more troops. A great question from the media mogul. Obama gets serious and basically says "Being President is hard, and not all the choices are going to be fabulous, but I am doing what I feel is best for the American People."

Whew, the stress is dissipated by the reappearance of the first lady. Thank the Heavens for Michelle. The Chicago Power Triumvirate sit down and talk about Christmas plans for this year as well as special memories from the past. The first family will spend the holidays in Hawaii, as per family tradition. The girls are really looking forward to it. Santa will be making a visit to the WhiteHouse, where he will find some cookies in the Yellow Room (because it has a fire place). He will also find a stocking hung for Bo, first dog. Barry suggests that he is a better gift giver than Michelle, and they have a funny spat. Barry makes it point to show off the necklace Michelle is wearing. It was an anniversary gift. Now each of them recalls their favorite gift from childhood. Michelle once received a dollhouse and the Pres. remembers meeting his father who gave him a basketball (spawning his love for the game).

At this point, the special ends rather quickly.
